er the course of a two-day retreat at the Contemporary Art Museum, participants will be guided through shared experiences that reveal peace in both calm and chaos, art making that fosters personal and communal healing, and collaboration with guest practitioners Dr. Anu French, Leslie Corey, and Amanda Austin—all culminating in a free performance at The Sheldon Concert Hall.
The opening night on Friday (5pm-9pm) will include: a catered reception with gluten free and vegetarian options offered, free wine and beer, with live music from ISH ensemble; keynote presentations from each of the practitioners; a silent art viewing with newly composed music by 3 award winning composers; and we will end the night with a short movement/dance session with DJ Vince.
Saturday (10am-5pm) will be a "Mindfulness Sampler", which will include introduction to various mindfulness activities. guided chanting, guided meditation flowing into a silent meditation with mindful movement and an art making session
There will then be a short, participatory Music as the Message performance entitled IF YOU CAN BREATHE, YOU CAN SING, with priority seating for retreat participants, followed by a catered lunch with gluten free and vegetarian options, leading into a live art and performance installation
We will then have two break out sessions for more Mantra sound healing and Mindfulness practices and finally a Closing Circle where we will sing the Mantra from the beginning of the day.
Sunday (4pm-5:30pm) will be Music as the Message: STEPPING INTO PEACE, the culminating performance of the weekend at The Sheldon Concert Hall. Retreat participants will receive priority seating. Our guest artists will be St. Louis artists alongside singers from The Metropolitan Opera and Broadway. There will be a reception immediately following this performance.
